Tan-y-Mynydd Trout Fishery
Welcome to Tan-y-Mynydd Trout Fishery
Created many years ago, Tan-y-Mynydd is a trout fishing haven, set in beautiful and tranquil Welsh countryside.
The pools, which abound with aquatic life, will test the best angler and yet give good fun and sport to the novice be they young or old.
The fly fishing pools are fully stocked with a variety of trout (rainbow, brown, blue and tiger) with our record rainbow tipping the scales at 21lb and the biggest brown weighing just over 10lb. Our 'family' pools where multi method fishing (bait and fly) is allowed are very popular and provide good sport for all ages.
With the current Covid-19 situation, we have been looking at ways in which to make payment safer. We are now pleased to have a Paypal QR Code which will be displayed in the office. This method of payment can be chosen on site by Paypal account holders. All other methods of payment remain available. The benefits of Scan.Pay.Go is that there is no human contact, it is fast and for us as a business there are reduced fees which means that we can keep the costs for our customers down.

Barbless/Debarbed Hooks only when fishing at Tan-y-Mynydd.
This will help to reduce stress and damage to the trout.
The trout can be released quickly and easily without harming them when using barbless hooks. Barbless hooks will actually penetrate a trout's jaw more smoothly and with less force exerted than a barbed hook - therefore catch rates will not suffer a detrimental effect.
We have our own very successful range of Barbless Skinny Buzzers available to purchase - please click on image below for more details

Wild Fishing Wales Round 5
Wild Fishing Wales is an initiative supported by the EU and the Welsh Assembly Government.
The grant has allowed us to carry out Access and Habitat Improvements at the fishery, including new/improved accessible footpaths, removal of self-sown willows, construction of new fishing platforms and also construction of new disabled friendly fishing platforms. A new disabled friendly toilet facility is now in full use.
We are very proud of the works that have been carried out and invite you to come along and see the improvements.
We would like to say a big thank you to National Resources Wales (@NatResWales) for supporting us in running a program of charity/coaching events and for providing new equipment at the fishery. The money for this has come through the Sustainable Fishery Programme which aims to improve the quality and opportunities for people to go fishing throughout Wales. The overall aim of ourselves and National Resources Wales is to introduce more people to angling. We would like to say a personal thank you to Joel Rees-Jones for making this happen. We would also like to say KEEP BUYING YOUR ROD LICENCES as this helps improve your fishery.
